Learn How You Can Build A Solar Water Heater, Be Green, and Save Money
Solar water heaters are the real ticket to saving money and helping our economy. Learn how to build a solar water heater yourself and save even more.
In his boo, The Coming Age of Solar Energy, D.S. Halacy, Jr., states that the Homo sapiens population of the world consumed about 90 trillion horsepower-hours of energy in 1972... while -- during the same 12-month period -- Ole Sol lavished 1.5 MILLION TRILLION horsepower-hours of sunlight on the planet.
Only a tiny fraction of one percent then of this natural force (about 40 billion kilowatts) is converted by green plants into all the food and timber and other vegation that grows on earth. And, of course, only a further fraction of this growth eventually (over hundreds of thousands of years) turns into the fossil fuels we've been squandering so recklessly.
Basically, all the energy we use comes from the sun in the first place and trying to capture that power by first changing it into fossil fuels is a long, involved, and very inefficient process. Why not just make a solar powered device? Mechanical devices, water heating systems and furnaces to run directly off solar power in the first place?
Hopefully this will inspire you to start digging into the possibilities solar power presents. We will focus here on
solar water heaters, using the most direct energy source - the sun itself.
